The Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital, in the evening of Thursday, March 28, affirmed the victory of Governor Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti as the duly elected in the governorship election that was held on July 14, 2018 in the state.
The Nigerian Tribune reports that a three-man panel of the appeal court led by Justice Stephen Adah, gave the unanimous judgment.
The judges dismissed the appeal filed by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidate in the election, Olusola Eleka.
Eleka and his party had appealed the judgement of the election petition tribunal set up to handle the governorship exercise in the state. The tribunal had ruled in favour of the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Kayode Fayemi.
